Original Botanical Paintings of Hosta Available For Purchase
We are pleased to announce that in partnership with the Minnesota School of Botanical Art (www.minnesotaschoolofbotanicalart.com), the American Hosta Society will be featuring approximately 35 original works of art at the convention. The Minnesota School of Botanical Art at the Bakken Museum located in Minneapolis is dedicated to furthering the tradition of the art of botanical illustration through teaching courses that combine the scientific and the aesthetic in drawing and painting. Since last fall, students both highly accomplished and aspiring have been creating these wonderful watercolor pieces for the convention.
All of the paintings will be displayed at the Hosta Show. They will be judged and awarded ribbons by a select panel of national judges. In collaboration with the Art School, all of the original works of art will also be available for purchase during the convention. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity being offered to the American Hosta Society. Each piece of art may be purchased for $500. Normally, paintings of this quality would be sold for $1,500 - $3,800. The American Hosta Society will receive 15% of the sale proceeds. For your convenience, we will accept credit cards as well as cash and checks.
Marilyn Garber, director of the Art School, will also be teaching an all day botanical painting class on Thursday, June 24th at the convention. Pre-registration and $35 materials fee are required.
